Dialogue is a key instructional strategy for engaging learners in a topic while developing core skills for intercultural communication and global citizenship. This workshop explores how educators can use dialogue to help young people connect and communicate with peers worldwide. The practice of dialogue prepares learners for the global community by teaching them how to critically seek out information about the world, think together about important topics, and exercise skills that promote attitudes of open-mindedness and curiosity.
Participants will explore different communication styles, learn the difference between dialogue, discussion, and debate, and practice the five core skills of dialogue through interactive exercises. Educators will also gain access to the Generation Global Teacher Portal, providing tools and materials for integrating dialogue into their classrooms.
Through this workshop, participants will:
Learn the difference between common modes of communication educators use in the classroom and why dialogue is important.
Understand the core skills of dialogue.
Explore strategies to integrate dialogue into teaching practices.
Access Generation Global tools and resources.
